Labor Day!
Well its Labor day morning, I am showered and dressed and getting ready to do some straightening before the families converge. It has been a long hot summer with a few catastrophies along the way. Lets start with Spring break this year while in South Florida visiting with my daughters, grandchildren and hubbies, MINE ended up in the hosp for several days and my youngest ended up with the flu! I know vacation and everyone is sick? When you live in southen Indiana you look forward to fun in the sun every spring. Soon after we got home we had rain, rain and more rain, the road going past our home was flooded over for almost 8 weeks this year, usually its only a couple of days here and there.
The end of June brought the storms and tornado weather. They love our pool, we had one very large pin oak and 3 other trees pulled over on our deck and pool. I now know what a tornado (a small one) sounds like, its not a freight train! The little ones sound more like a wind tunnel with a watery wosh to it. Our pool has been out of commission until last week now of course today its a bit cool for the kids to swim.
Today we will celebrate 2 birthdays along with the feast my Husband will prepare. My youngest will be 20 in a few days and my son will be 29, the baby likes a spice cake with cream cheese frosting so that will be her cupcakes because who doesn't love a cup cake! My son is a pineapple upsidedown cake kind of kid so we will have that as well but around here it is known as Popes Pie because at one birthday meal he took a bite exclaiming "This is good enough for the Pope to eat on his birthday!" the pineapple upsidedown cake was then dubbed "Popes Pie"
Some of the foods we are having are local favorites, I will add photos and recipes.
